I had this one filed as a model-drop week - Qwen, GLM, DeepSeek and Gemini all shipped inside three days, and I was ready to call it a scoreboard issue. Then Anthropic said it would start watermarking Claude's output, and the angriest replies came from people whose objection was, essentially, that they did not want anyone to be able to tell 🫠

The output is starting to carry a receipt: watermarking landed in the same week researchers showed reasoning traces can be pulled straight out of a proprietary API, and Stripe moved on the router most of those calls already go through.
