Good morning, builders 👋
Welcome back to your Monday-morning dose of aiBytes_. I have always liked Cursor because it gave access to all models unlike Codex & Claude Code but now that's going away. SpaceX bought Cursor, and in an interesting AI war OpenAI decided to not support its model inside Cursor. Will that make Cursor less useful? Yet to see!!
The neutral ground is getting bought: Cursor was the editor where you could pick any model, and Hugging Face is the platform where the open weights live. Cursor now belongs to SpaceX; Hugging Face has Nvidia reportedly circling it for $13B.
Today: Cursor losing its OpenAI models, two courts pointing at Anthropic, five launches and seven repos, and the developers who got replaced by AI and open-sourced an AI CEO in return.

🔌 OpenAI is cutting Cursor off from its models - SpaceX bought the editor, and OpenAI named November 12 as the day its models stop serving it. Your own API key still works. Story of the week (OpenAI)
🤗 Nvidia is reportedly in talks to buy Hugging Face for $13B - The default home for open weights would belong to the company that makes the chips they run on. (Business Insider)
🧠 GLM-5.3 is now open-weight - Z.ai published the full weights days after shipping the Flash variant. (Hugging Face)
⚖️ Sony Music and Warner are suing Anthropic - The complaint leans on piracy rather than fair use, which makes it broader than the training cases before it. (TechCrunch)
🧑⚖️ A judge ruled the blacklisting of Anthropic illegal - The Trump administration's move to bar the company from federal work did not survive review. (The New York Times)
📱 AI's memory crunch is coming for Android apps - Google is capping app memory use as data centre demand squeezes RAM out of cheaper phones. (TechCrunch)
📈 Amazon tripled its Nvidia order - Another two million GPUs into its data centres over the next two years. (TechCrunch)
"Every neutral layer in this stack stays neutral exactly as long as nobody can afford to buy it."
